Doug Camps Out for United Way

As a Leadership Giver and Campaign Cabinet volunteer with United Way, Doug Tate Lives United because he wants to set an example to those around him and to his profession. He want to be counted as someone who cares.

In one respect, as an attorney, he says he gives because to those that much has been given, much is expected. In another respect, he recognizes that his income and his job are dependent on a thriving community. “Thriving” can be defined in terms of economics, education, health, society, diversity and other factors. United Way helps individuals thrive, making the community better for Doug and everyone in it.

Last year, Doug was willing to sleep on the roof of the Drhumor Building where he works to encourage members of the Legal Division he chaired during the campaign to increase their giving levels. It was cold, but worth it. And Doug says he'll do it again to raise money and awareness for United Way. There is no other organization that fills so many needs and asks for so little in return, he says.
