College Week will be held at Erwin Middle

College Week will be held at Erwin Middle School in February

On the week of February 20th at Erwin Middle School, students will do college-related activities every morning for their second period class. From career explorations, and what it takes to get there, to checking out local, state-wide, national and international universities. The week will culminate in CFNC's College Night, and Friday will be a celebratory day. The following week Early College and Middle College will host a parents night, and 8th graders will have a chance to tour those two school campuses.

The College Foundation of North Carolina will be the central presenters during the college night on Thursday, February 23rd at 6pm.; focused on giving parents and families’ tools to understand higher education and career options, scholarships, and financial aid. Several community partners will be present as well to provide information about their individual schools, including AB Tech, and UNC-Asheville. The presentation will be given in Spanish with Ukrainian interpretation in the auditorium, and in Spanish in the cafeteria. This program is part of United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County's Middle School Success Initiative. CFNC will return on March 14th for a follow up visit with parents at our Monday night Homework Diner.

At United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, we believe that no single individual or organization can accomplish wide-scale community change alone. We are stronger, more powerful, when we work together. This is what collective impact is about.
