Health and Wellness in Working with Older Youth

Friday, April 12, 2013 -- A mini-conference for professionals working with middle and high school youth.

 

 

United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County’s Middle School Success initiative is dedicated to improving both the quantity and quality of out of school opportunities for middle school youth in Buncombe County.

Together, with our community partners, we aim to provide youth development professionals the support and technical assistance they need to be wildly successful.

At this year's mini-conference, learn more about the following topics as they relate to health and wellness among older youth:

  • adolescent psychology and brain development
  • incorporating physical fitness in the family and community
  • substance abuse
  • empowering youth to become their own health advocates
  • sexual health and wellness
  • bullying and ally behaviors
  • supporting LGBTQ youth
  • team and skill building using
  • physical activities
  • and more
