Diamond Donors
Why I am a Diamond Donor: Gail Stashick

“I am a member of the Peaks Development Committee, a community volunteer and a Diamond Donor with United Way.
I have been blessed throughout the stages of my life to live in environments that foster both generous and servant’s hearts. As a child, my parents walked the walk of faith and service to our community. At age 18, on my first day on the job with Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, they shared their commitment to helping better the communities in which we lived and worked. It was then that I made my first contribution.
Relocating to Asheville in 2002, I entered the next stage of my life and continued to engage in Eaton’s (formerly Westinghouse) commitment to community. There, I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer as a mentor, work to help eliminate childhood poverty through my Leadership Asheville project and, last year, serve as the Avery Creek site’s United Way campaign coordinator.
Thirty-two years later, I could not be happier that I made that first pledge to United Way! I continue to LIVE UNITED, supporting United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, because of the extensive research it has done to identify three critical focus areas, education, income and health, as well as its outcomes-based strategy of accountability of funded community partners.
I enjoy motivating others to join the movement by Giving, Advocating and Volunteering. Our employees feel good about donating to United Way because they know Eaton only invests in quality organizations.”
Diamond Donors, like Gail, are our most loyal contributors. They have supported United Way through giving for 25 years or more, and made up 17.5 percent of the campaign in 2010. If you have been supporting United Way for more than 25 years, let us know. E-mail David Bailey, call 255-0696 or let us know by notating it on your pledge card.
