General Information About Funding
United Way’s Board of Directors is pleased to accept proposals that address one or more of the Community-Level Results in Education, Income and Health. Please review the following if you are interested in applying. Please note that in order to submit a letter of intent or make an application you must have attended one of the orientation sessions that were held on January 4 or 5, 2012.
Before beginning the application process
- Programs seeking funding should read the 2012 Request For Proposals The last four pages of the RFP list the Community Level and Program Level results for Education, Income and Health.
- The slides from the powerpoint presentation shared at the January orientations.
- If your organization is considering applying for funding for system advocacy, please note the results United Way are using are from the Annie E Casey Foundation.
- United Way’s Application Process is now entirely online. To learn how to navigate GLM (Grant Lifecycle Manager), review the online tutorial.
- Google Chrome is highly recommended because it offers spell check and navigates the online software the best. Download Google Chrome.

Starting a Letter of Intent or Application
- Access the link to GLM to complete a Letter of Intent (for programs not currently funded by United Way) or Application.
- For direct service programs, here are the Instructions to the application.

Other Important Information
- Organizations that wish to apply for United Way must meet United Way’s Standards of Excellence. A new organization will be required to show it meets these Standards prior to completing a full application.
- Programs that are offered funding must sign a contract. The obligations that are included in this contract are listed here.
- Funding Criteria - these criteria are used by Focus Area volunteers as a guide when making investment decisions
- United Way has established Communications Guidelines for Community Partners.
