A BIG Welcome to our newest crew of Loaned Executives! Left to right: Mark Collins, Don Mandelkorn, Charlotte Sommers, Barbara Daugherty, Paula Plott, Susan Andrew, Amanda Jay, Hope Snipes, Emily Palumbo and Heath Nettles. This week is our version of boot camp - the week-long immersion into all things LIVE UNITED. If you see them, and they are bleary eyed, you know why. Right now they are taking a break from the learning and are busy folding and sorting all of the Day of Caring T-Shirts for each company. One of the unique programs our Back to School Supply Drive supports is The Augustine Project. The Augustine Project seeks to improve the academic achievement and the self esteem of low-income children and teens who struggle with literacy skills. The Project trains tutors who provide these students free, 1-on-1, long-term, instruction in reading, writing and spelling. Your donations are more than just pencils and paper and backpacks. Chris Young, our 2011 Campaign Chair, noted that a challenge during the 2011-12 campaign that a majority of our focus was on companies and individuals with which we have a long history and not as much on cultivation of new business relationships. Chris felt that it was time to create a new position on our campaign cabinet, one devoted solely to cultivation of new relationships. The best part of this idea? Not only did Chris suggest it, he stepped up to chair the effort AND he recruited a top-notch team to implement the plan. Now that's leadership!
