Sarah and Glenn

We come from different places. We come to different conclusions. But underneath it all, we share a passion for improving the human condition. When we LIVE UNITED, we create real, lasting change in the building blocks of a good life: the Education, Income and Health of our communities, our families, even the person next to us. Our efforts, magnified by others, add up to real change. Children succeed in school. Families gain financial stability. The health of our neighbors improves and, suddenly, so does our community.

Yes, we may not look the same or listen to the same kinds of music. We may give of our time and our resources for different reasons. We have different points of view of which issues we feel are most critical and what kinds of change are needed to improve lives in our community. But here's the really amazing thing - when we look beyond our differences, we can make a difference. When we combine our resources in United Way's Community Investment Fund, we see amazing results, like the ones you'll find throughout this Web site.

It's a powerful thing to come together, united, to tackle the tough issues. United Way gives us a place to do that.

We can volunteer through Hands On Asheville-Buncombe. We can tell people about 2-1-1, which provides critical health and human services referrals and information. We can support students having more opportunities for quality out-of-school care through Middle School Success. And, of course, United Way is a trustworthy steward of the dollars we give, investing them in comprehensive Education, Income and Health strategies that consider the issues from all sides.

Whatever it is that motivates you, consider being part of United Way's work. Real change won't happen without you.
