What's up with NC's budget cuts? Find out at NC's Worth It forum, Oct 2, 6:30 PM
If you want to better understand the impact of state budget cuts to our community and what can be done to restore investments in education, health, safety, and envirnoment then join Children First/CIS and Together NC at the NC's Worth It forum on October 2nd.
Come listen to the discussion and learn how a seemingly-unrelated tax break for wealthy corporations might mean a loss of state funds for new textbooks at your child’s school. Or how decisions made over the last two years mean less children attending pre-school or fewer protections for our environmental resources in our community. The NC’s Worth It forum is an opportunity to connect the dots between the decisions that legislators make in Raleigh and the consequences for real people across the state.
The Buncombe County forum will feature presentations from members of Together NC and local organizations, and will focus on the impact of budget decisions both statewide and in our local community. We’ll also be discussing the upcoming debate over the state’s revenue system and changes that are likely to be considered by next year’s General Assembly – changes that could either continue our state’s tumble towards mediocrity or put us back on the path to shared prosperity. Here's the where & when:
Buncombe County: Tuesday, 10/2, 6:30 pm, Valley Springs Middle School, 224 Long Shoals Rd, Arden, NC
