A to the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County and the companies that helped kick off a tremendous annual giving campaign. As chair of the United Way’s Trailblazers, I have had the pleasure of working with the companies that pledged to increase their giving by 10 percent or more before the campaign’s official start in September. This year’s Trailblazers are: the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce; Asheville Specialty Hospital; Beverly-Hanks Associates; Blue Ridge X-Ray, Carter; PC Accounting & Consulting; Forest Commercial Bank; Housing Authority of Asheville; McGuire, Wood & Bissette PA; Medical Action Industries; Patla, Straus, Robinson & Moore PA; and the YMCA of WNC. I am pleased to report that the Trailblazers contributed $1 million in pledges before the campaign began. These companies have set a wonderful example for our community as we near the mid-point of the annual giving campaign. This year the United Way’s Community Investment Fund dollars have been invested in 79 nonprofit programs which support education, income and health. More than 63,000 of our community members will be positively impacted as a result of this campaign, ultimately making Asheville and Buncombe County an even better community. Please consider increasing this positive impact by giving to the United Way through your workplace campaign or online at unitedwayabc.org. Real change cannot and will not happen without you.
