Eight contestants squared off at Bonar's inaugural BBQ Cook-off and 50/50 Raffle for United Way today. Craig Stephens was named the winner and awarded $200.
$732 was also raised through the 50/50 raffle. As soon as Fred Bailey was named the winner, he donated his prize to United Way - a true philanthropist! With the $424 raised by the cook-off, a total of $1,156 was donated.
In addition to the funds we'll use to invest in education, income and health, over 100 pounds of food will also be donated to MANNA FoodBank. It's always a great day to live in Buncombe County, but our neighbors at Bonar truly know how to LIVE UNITED.
Other contestants in the cook-off include Kay Hoglen, Wayne Merritt, Ashley Clark, Curtis Hanna, Craig Stephens, Michael Hartley, David Hall and Pat Wells.
