A major focus of Enka Middle Community School is after school opportunities for students. These include clubs, activities and sports that are sponsored by Enka Middle School or Community School staff. Creative Writing Club is a student-centered writing workshop designed to offer students encouragement and feedback for their creative project. It also provides valuable opportunities to meet working writers who live in the community.
Girls in Charge is for 6th grade girls and is designed to build confidence, leadership, and self-awareness in a fun and supportive environment. The girls are mentored by members of United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council.
Green Team students learn all about the benefits of recycling, composting, and gardening. This club focuses on “green” eco-awareness activities.
Knitting Club is for knitters of all skill levels! Taught by an experience knitter, students have the opportunity to learn the basics and make wearable projects in a fun and supportive group.
Roots and Wings Design Lab is taught by a group of experienced local artists from the Roots & Wings School of Art and Design in Asheville. Students have the opportunity to create artwork for the school and for themselves in a variety of mediums.
Yoga Club is taught by a certified yoga instructor and is designed to help students strengthen their bodies and minds while learning fun stretching routines.
