Our community rocks and one big reason is people give back in all kinds of ways, all the time. If your nonprofit or school relies on a great person to accomplish your mission, it is time to make sure they get the recognition they deserve!
We are accepting Buncombe County nominations for the 2015 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award. The awards program, created by the Office of the Governor in 1979, recognizes North Carolina’s most dedicated volunteers. Through the years, the award has been bestowed on thousands of North Carolinians who have shown concern and compassion for their neighbors by volunteering in their local community.
Each county selects up to ten individuals, businesses, groups/teams and one paid Director of Volunteers to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities. One of the nominees will be nominated for the Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service, which is awarded to the top 20 volunteers in the state. The Hands On Asheville-Buncombe Advisory Committee will evaluate and choose from the nominations.
How to Nominate a Volunteer
Nomination forms are available online at our Hands On Asheville-Buncombe website: http://www.handsonasheville.org/GovernorsAward and will be accepted no later than 5:00 pm on October 31, 2014.
