Leigh Ruhl is a Senior Major Gift Officer with Mission Health. She's also a member of Women's Leadership Council, a network of passionate and influential women focused on supporting the Middle School Success initiative. We get to know her a little better in this month's WLC Spotlight.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned during your career? Stay true to your guiding principles and values.
What is your favorite quote or motto? "Go big or go home" (Unknown) and "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." (Helen Keller)
Why do you volunteer and donate to United Way? It is important for me to serve others and try to uplift our neighbors in need. My values are highly aligned with United Way’s mission to improve lives and strengthen community.
What is the best advice you have ever gotten? “Not to worry.” And “This too shall pass.”
What qualities do you most admire in business professionals? Integrity, vision, clarity of purpose, and resourcefulness.
What qualities do you most dislike? Dishonesty and a poor work ethic.
What is the best advice you can offer to young women and young men as they start their careers? Be curious. Listen well. Seek to understand others more than seeking to be understood. Take every opportunity to learn more about your field and the world around you.
Who are your real-life heroes? My mom for her intelligence, grace, and inner strength. Children undergoing adversity for their hopefulness and resiliency.
