Join the conversation about Education in our community! Here's how it works: visit our Town Hall on Education forum and learn more about important issues in Education, vote in polls, share ideas, respond to the ideas of others and earn badges for your participation. You can even take a pledge to become a volunteer reader, tutor or mentor. It takes a whole community to help young people succeed, so raise your voice about Education today!

If you are a Diamond Donor, we want to know!

Diamond Donors are our most loyal contributors. They have supported United Way through giving for 25 years or more, and made up 17.5 percent of the campaign in 2010. If you have been supporting United Way for more than 25 years, let us know. E-mail David Bailey, call 255-0696 or let us know by notating it on your pledge card.

Every year we try, through our campaign video, to convey the impact our Givers, Advocates and Volunteers have on our community.  We are all stronger because you have taken  collective action and we thank you.  Check it out now, and share it with others!

Nonprofits and various government agencies provide excellent programs to support people in need. The problem: the people who need these programs often don’t know they exist or get confused by the maze of options and requirements.

Our community is fortunate.  2-1-1 of WNC connects people in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania Counties to information on those programs and services 24/7.

In 2010 2-1-1 of WNC fielded 54,605 calls (a 49% increase from 2008).  While that number continues to grow, we know there is much more to do.  Check out the heat map which can be found in our recent annual report:

You can see from this map that we need to continue outreach efforts to ensure that all of our four counties know we are here for them.   That's where we need your help.  Help us spread the word locally, tell your friends and family, request a speaker for your next civic or company meeting, or request brochures for your lobby by connecting to 2-1-1 of WNC Director, Rachael Nygaard.
