Youth development professionals are the most important component of any program serving youth. Well-trained and prepared staff members are able to foster better connections with youth and ensure meaningful experiences. - North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs (NC CAP) NC CAP is the Mott Foundation funded statewide afterschool network. Here you can find the North Carolina Afterschool Professional Core Competencies, a listing of trainings happening around the state and much more.
- North Carolina Afterschool Coalition (NCASC) NCASC is the professional organization for afterschool workers and the National Afterschool Alliance affiliate for North Carolina.
- Youth Development Insight Blog A great blog housed at the University of Minnesota – Extension that features great postings by experienced professionals. Also check out their Next Generation Youth Work Coalition which is committed to developing “a strong, diverse afterschool and youth development workforce.”
- You for Youth A Department of Education website geared towards 21st Century Community Learning Center professionals, but filled with information and online professional development that is useful to anyone in the field.
