Volunteers In United Way

The work of United Way could not be accomplished without the significant contributions of time from our volunteers.  Here are just a few examples of their commitment:

  • Our Board consists of community members who spend much more time than their quarterly board meeting might make it appear.  Board meetings, sub-committees, task forces and special events; these community leaders are there for all of it, helping to ensure we keep this ship on course.
  • Each year 22 people volunteer to be a part of the Campaign Cabinet.  These people each lead a particular industry division's fundraising efforts during campaign. Among the many divisions: Real Estate, Development and Construction, Manufacturing, Tourism and Leisure, and Financial Services. These community leaders commit at least 30 hours over the course of 30 weeks to ensure that their division meets its fundraising goals for the year.
  • It takes an extraordinary group of subject matter experts to determine the best ways to invest the funds raised during campaign.  Sixty-three volunteers spend hundreds of hours reading and rating proposals, asking questions, and finally determining the best ways to invest the limited pool of dollars we have.
