2-1-1 of Asheville and Buncombe County: Support You can Trust

The Asheville 2-1-1 call center is an AIRS (Alliance of Information and Referral Systems) accredited call center. To be accredited by AIRS is a year long, in depth process to determine quality assurance for information and referral services. They assess more than 200 distinct operational components and finish with a detailed onsite review, including a comprehensive review of the agency’s resource database and a “secret shopper” monitoring of the agency’s information and referral service delivery. It is the industry standard in demonstrating the overall quality and effectiveness of an information and referral service, like 2-1-1. Once earned, the AIRS Accreditation distinction lasts for 5 years. The Asheville and Buncombe County call center has now been AIRS Accredited for 15 years, which is a true mark of the quality of our trained referral specialists work, the resources they provide, and the data we’re able to capture from our 23 county service area.

In the fall of 2018, the city of Asheville proclaimed the month of February 2-1-1 month. While United Ways across the globe celebration February 11th as National 2-1-1 Day, the city took the second month of the year as an opportunity to recognize and champion our local information and referral service. We invite you to join us in helping to spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors about this free, confidential, 24 hour/day, 7 day/week service for all residents to easily access from the palm of their hand.

On February 11, which is National 2-1-1 Day, NC 2-1-1 was recognized at the United Way of North Carolina Annual Meeting for our part in the response to Hurricane Florence. As part of that recognition, Governor Cooper shared these kind words. NC 2-1-1 has now been named the Governor’s line to be used during times of disaster. We are truly honored by this distinction and proud to serve our community in this capacity.
