United Way is one of a number of participating sites in a community-wide art installation project called the Still Standing Project. This installation is being brought to our community through a partnership with the Buncombe County Family Justice Center agencies. Survivors of domestic and sexual violence are sharing their stories of hope and strength to help inspire our community to stand up against domestic and sexual violence and give victims the courage they may need to come forward.
You Can Help
Contact the Family Justice Center (828) 250-6900 if your faith community or business would like to participate. The survivor stories are printed on life-size silhouette wall clings and can be stuck to and easily removed from any flat surface. Anywhere you have a flat wall, you have an opportunity to share a message of hope and courage and help build a resilient community free from domestic and sexual violence. The silhouette wall clings will be installed the last week of September and we are asking locations to commit to keeping them up at least through the end of the year.
