Tracey Johnston-Crum

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

An Asheville native, Tracey returned to the area after traveling the world through her first career as a professional actress. Tracey served as the Director of Public Relations and Community Outreach for The Omni Grove Park Inn for seven years and before that, was the Executive Director of Asheville Bravo Concerts for six years. Tracey believes the best things happen with clear, concise communication, making that her true passion and constant objective.

Give us a glimpse into your role at United Way. How do you help us fulfill our mission? What are you most excited about accomplishing as a team?

As the Director of Major Gifts, Tracey seeks to make a meaningful difference in this community by connecting compassionate individuals to United Way's fight against the impacts of poverty on all who experience them.

What’s your favorite thing about our community?

This community is unique. It is an eclectic blend of rich history and new ideas coming together in the valley of the oldest and most stunning mountains in the nation. Every day is different. Every person you meet has an unusual story. The best days are when members of this community from different backgrounds work together to affect change and better the place we all call home.

What would we find you doing when you aren’t at work?

Tracey continues to work on her craft, acting in plays with several professional theatre companies in Asheville. She treasures sharing her love of experiencing and learning about other cultures with her daughter through frequent and immersive travel.

Tell us about any committees or associations you are a part of and/or awards/recognitions you’ve received.

Tracey has served on several boards and volunteered with numerous organizations in the community including; The Magnetic Theatre, Asheville Parks & Greenways Foundation, Asheville Rotary, Mountain True, Montford Park Players, Asheville City Schools Foundation, and even United Way for six years.
