Advocacy Message from Angela Williams, President and CEO of United Way World Wide

United Way Worldwide is currently advocating in support of the HELP Act. This is a bipartisan, bicameral bill that would provide capacity-building resources for 988 and 211 to connect more vulnerable individuals and families to local resources. 211, which United Way helps to manage, connected more than 18 million people in need to critical resources last year alone.

As a part of our efforts to advocate for the bill’s passage, I am excited to share with you an op-ed I wrote about the importance of the Help Act that was published in The Hill today. In it, I argue that the HELP Act provides a bipartisan opportunity to strengthen community infrastructure and demonstrate what we know so well at United Way: communities are the cornerstone of society, and our country is strong only when all communities are strong.

I firmly believe that passing the HELP Act and strengthening the power of 211 can improve access to services and alleviate the challenges faced by so many.

As we continue our efforts to pass the HELP Act, I hope this op-ed will be useful to raise awareness and garner support.

I am so grateful for your partnership and proud of our Network’s collective impact. Let's continue to create meaningful change in the lives of those who need it most. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our shared mission.

Regards,
Angela F. Williams
