Leadership Giving
In 1984, a few key volunteers established a means to encourage and recognize those people who make a contribution of $1000 or more each year.
That first year saw 67 members meet that challenge and The Peaks Society was born. Today, more than 1,300 members donate close to half of the funds we raise each year.
The Leadership Giving Societies are:
- The Tocqueville Society - Individuals and couples who give $10,000 or more annually.
- The Peaks Society - Individuals and couples who give $1,000 or more annually.
Leadership Giving makes a tremendous impact in United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County's annual campaign. In 2010, Leadership Givers accounted for 48.8 percent of the total campaign revenue of more than $5.25 million.
Highlands Circle is an Affinity Group and a majority of their members are leadership givers and are listed below.
