As we find ourselves in the midst of 2024, a critical election year, the importance of civic engagement has never been clearer. While voting is fundamental to our democracy, engaged individuals can go beyond the ballot box to make a meaningful impact. Fortunately, resources are available to guide and empower citizens in their pursuit of active participation.
Enka Middle's Resource Room Revamp was an enormous success, thanks to Retire United's dedicated efforts! With a staggering 64.5 collective volunteer hours, you transformed the space into a clean, cozy hub for students, community partners, and Ginny, the Community School Coordinator. Your impactful work demonstrates the power of collaboration and community involvement.
Community is more than just a word; it's the heartbeat of our mission, the soul of our endeavors. It's the fellowship we feel when we come together, united in purpose and passion. In Asheville and Buncombe County, community is not a concept but a living, breathing entity.
We are excited to announce that Dr. Sarah Nuñez has joined our team as Senior Director of United for Youth.
Dr. Nuñez comes to us with a deep commitment to equity in education and a strong history of building community relationships, student success initiatives, and community organizing. In addition to being an entrepreneur, she has worked across nonprofit, education, and public sectors for more than 20 years and has degrees from AB Tech (AA), UNCA (BA), and WCU (MPA).
