We are thrilled to share that the retaining wall on the corner of Hilliard and South French Broad is COMPLETE!
It was almost one full year ago when we announced the start of the construction process. For those who had not seen the wall up close, and were not familiar with its condition, it is no exaggeration to say that it was one heavy rain away from shearing off and crumbling into the road below.
Meet Antoria Stinson, an Asheville High School 12th-grade senior. At just 17 years old, Antoria has recently been accepted into six colleges and is currently in the process of selecting the perfect one to further her education and aspirations.
Often when you step inside a school now you are greeted with Smart TV’s. On the screen, you’ll often see celebrations of recent school news or highlights of the after-school clubs for the upcoming semester.
At United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County (UWABC), we’re all about ensuring our community is working in a collaborative and sustainable way to ensure that we co-create a community where every single person belongs and can thrive. One of the main collective impact strategies UWABC is operating at the backbone organization is United for Youth.
In an era where up to five generations can gather in a single room, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County is fortunate enough to have access to the intergenerational wisdom and experiences these women bring.
