Our work centers on youth opportunity and community resiliency, but that work has ripple effects that strengthen the financial security and health of our whole community. Whether investing in programs that support the whole child and their development or investing in systems that support our communities' recovery after Helene, we are committed to mobilizing our community to action so all can thrive.
Our Work This Past Year
There are a lot of powerful examples of our work in action this past year, here are just a few:
- Since September, our weekly, FREE, Community Nights have served a healthy meal, provided academic support, and helped build relationships and connections at nine locations across the county. Total attendance across all these events: 4,382 students and their families (2,400 unique individuals attending multiple times).
- We've helped fill over 18,000 volunteer slots since the storm. This is much-needed support for local relief and recovery efforts by grassroots groups across the county.
- We've already directed over $4.5 million toward relief and recovery efforts in Buncombe County. This means local organizations had the funds to provide housing and utility assistance directly to impacted families. They had the funds to hire staff to coordinate response efforts or rebuild homes. And provide supportive services, such as mental health support, to youth most impacted by the storm.
