Investing In Our Future

Incredible scenery, a booming food scene, and a rich tradition of arts, music, and culture. There are many reasons why we choose to call this place home. The one thing we all agree upon is that it's worth investing in. We know you have a choice when it comes to giving and we take every investment very seriously.

We also know that generosity comes in many forms. Whether you're making a gift through your IRA or as part of your planned legacy, your support is helping to build a stronger, more equitable, more resilient community where everyone belongs and everyone thrives.

Beyond Individual Giving

While individual giving remains the foundation upon which we're built, there is a myriad of other investment types that support the work of United Way. We invite you to explore the options that work best for you, your business, or your organization below. For detailed information, please contact Kevin Montgomery, 828.239.1047.

A charitable bequest to United Way can be added to your will or living trust in as little as one sentence and will allow our Board of Directors to steward your final gift for its greatest impact. Or choose to direct your contribution to the David Bailey Legacy Endowment to ensure that your annual gift is sustained in perpetuity. (TAX ID/EIN# 56-0576157).

Please let us know if you have already made provisions for United Way in your estate plan so we may acknowledge your commitment in United Way's Legacy Giving Society. Connect with Kevin Montgomery for more information. He and a member of our Planned Giving Committee would be happy to meet with you.

For securities held longer than one year, you can deduct their full fair market value, regardless of what you originally paid for them, and avoid paying capital gains tax.

Be sure you, or your broker, provide your name and address to United Way, the name and number of securities transferred, and the approximate stock valuation on the date of transfer (TAX ID/EIN# 56-0576157).

IRA Charitable Rollovers

Using your traditional IRA to make a charitable gift to United Way offers you the opportunity to play a role in strengthening this community while also receiving important personal tax benefits. If you are at least 70 1/2 years old, you can make an annual contribution of up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a qualified nonprofit organization such as United Way. Your IRA contribution allows you to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution - tax-free (TAX ID/EIN# 56-0576157).
