Catherine Mencher

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I started as a classroom teacher garnering me forever respect for career educators! At College Track, a national college completion non-profit, I was a direct service program director and a "jill of all trades," managing significant grant partnerships, chief of staff functions, board communications, and evaluative metrics and approach.

Give us a glimpse into your role at United Way. How do you help us fulfill our mission? What are you most excited about accomplishing as a team?

As the Grants Manager, I'll ensure we have a grant process and ecosystem that supports us achieving our mission in a collaborative, impactful and scalable manner. I am most excited about solving nuanced challenges at United Way and in bringing in sustainable funds that align with and support our mission.

What’s your favorite thing about our community?

I've lived in tiny Gallup, NM, and big Atlanta, GA, and Oakland, CA. I love our community's size and incredible mountain views around each corner.

Hanging with my husband and two young kiddos - gardening, cooking and socializing.

Do you have any podcast, book, music, or movie recommendations?

I love the Longform and Throughline podcasts, and the book The Lean Startup.

Tell us about any committees or associations you are a part of and/or awards/recognitions you’ve received.
