Due to the evolving nature of the global COVID-19 health crisis, Homework Diners are canceled until further notice. That said, we are proud of our community for working hard to address community needs with the following solution that we can build upon once we are past this crisis.
Free Transportation for Homework Diners at Asheville Middle School
Thanks to Asheville City Schools Transportation Department, FREE bus rides will be available for students and their families both to and from Asheville Middle School's Homework Diner starting Tuesday, March 3rd. All students, parents, guardians and siblings will be able to ride at no charge. An Asheville City Schools Activity Bus will be making its way around our city beginning at 4:30 p.m. with a return route leaving the school at 7:00 p.m.
"We are extremely excited about the partnership with ACS to provide students and their families transportation to and from Homework Diners," shares United Way Community Partnerships Manager Sarah Roth. "We have been trying to find ways to provide transportation for Asheville city families since we began Homework Diners at Asheville Middle in 2017, but every time we ran into roadblocks. The opportunity to utilize ACS buses that are able to cover most of the district is a huge win for everyone involved. This partnership helps us to reduce barriers for students and families so that Homework Diners can be a resource for everyone in the district and Asheville Middle can continue to become a true community school. We are beyond grateful to the many people that put time and effort into making this dream a reality."
We hope to see more faces Tuesday afternoon. See the full Homework Diners schedule at all four Asheville City and Buncombe County Schools.
