We're gearing up for the annual School Supply Drive June 28-July 22, 2021 sponsored by our incredible local partners Bank of America.
Last year, our community raised $50,000 to support our local students, translating to 1,848 fully stocked backpacks filled with supplies to support hybrid virtual and in-person learning in an incredibly challenging school year. We can't thank you all enough for your contributions to our students and families during this time. This year we've made it easier to safely show your support.
"It feels like something so small that we can easily take for granted, yet it has such a huge impact," shares Nichole Davis, Beverly-Hanks Realtors, who helped lead a team drive raising 80 backpacks to support last year's School Supply Drive.
Since 2007, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County and our volunteer center Hands On Asheville-Buncombe have set out to rally community support around our elementary and middle grades students with the annual School Supply Drive. Our collective efforts alongside donors and community partners have helped over 16,000 students walk into the classroom fully prepared. With your generosity and our ability to purchase supplies in bulk, this has translated into $900,000+ worth of school supplies for our students, reminding our families that they're not alone and that we will work to ensure all young people have an equal opportunity to show up with the supplies they need to succeed.
