On Wednesday, December 13, nearly 50 members of Women United gathered in the spirit of giving at Highland Brewing to wrap more than 1,000 books for local school kids.
The wrapped books were donated by local residents through a partnership with Barnes and Noble at the Asheville Mall. This event marks the fifth year for United Way’s Book Drive and the third year in partnership with Barnes and Noble. The drive will continue at the Barnes and Noble Asheville location through the end of December and donated books will be distributed by United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County to local youth serving programs and public schools.

United Way would like to extend our heart-felt gratitude to Barnes and Noble for all of their support and for partnering with us to bring the love of reading to area students. We would also like to thank Women United members for showing up on a cold and blustery evening and working hard to ensure all the books were wrapped.
