Engaging our community is a fundamental part of UWABC’s mission and is crucial to our success across all parts of our organization. We believe that listening, learning, and working alongside community members, especially those from historically marginalized communities, is essential for driving meaningful change. A few examples:

  • Community Assets and Needs Assessments | These surveys occur within school communities and involve families, youth, and educators. Results help our team prioritize work and investments.

  • Investments | Making funding decisions has long involved community representatives, but a few years ago, we engaged in a redesign process that further centered community voice, particularly from communities most impacted by the issues we were working to address.

  • Fundraising | We have a stellar Resource Development team, but their work can't happen without the representation and involvement of volunteers from throughout our community. Their insights and enthusiasm for our work are contagious and critical to our success.

  • Volunteerism | We connect individuals and groups to meaningful opportunities to support their community through volunteer work and look for ways to expand learning and connection in the process.
