ASHEVILLE, N.C. — In the wake of catastrophic flooding that has devastated communities across Eastern North Carolina, Texas, and New Mexico, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County is extending its support to those facing the immediate aftermath of this unfolding crisis.

Having lived through the destruction and heartbreak caused by flooding here in Asheville, as a result of Tropical Storm Helene, we know the fear, uncertainty, and deep loss that follow when homes are destroyed and lives are upended. Our hearts are with every family right now navigating grief, displacement, and the daunting road ahead.

In this moment of shared struggle, we’re encouraging our community here at home to rally around our neighbors to the south and west. Local supporters can make a difference by donating directly to the United Way organizations serving flood-stricken areas in Eastern North Carolina, Texas, and New Mexico. These funds will help meet urgent needs on the ground — from emergency shelter and food access to long-term recovery resources.
