2016 TOCQUEVILLE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD DINNER

On April 25, 2016 the Annual Tocqueville Dinner was hosted at Smoky Park Supper Club. Keith and Barbra Love received the Tocqueville Community Service Award. This exceptional partnership has provided leadership and financial support that has transformed our community, having a long lasting and far reaching impact. United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County is grateful for their work and friendship.

The Tocqueville Society is made up of donors who have made an investment in the future of Buncombe County and truly set the standard for charitable giving. They do more than give, though. The needs in our community have increased dramatically at a time when fund-raising among nonprofits has decreased due to the economy. The generosity of these special individuals helps ensure the future of many worthy programs. Great things happen when we LIVE UNITED!

Special thanks to Smoky Park Supper Club. Additional thanks to Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP,Northwestern Mutual Asheville and Mission Health for making events for leadership givers and affinity groups possible.

Tocqueville Community Service Award

In 1973, United Way of America began honoring an individual or family who had demonstrated extraordinary commitment, leadership and service and made a broad impact on their community and/or the nation. Previous winners of the national award include Ambassador Walter Annenberg, Presidents Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, Senator and Mrs. John Glenn, and Bob Hope.

Our United Way began the tradition in 2002, with Buddy and Marilyn Patton and Barbara Blomberg being honored as the first winners of ourTocqueville Society Community Service Award.
