A BRIGHTER MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
We are excited to announce that because of the incredible generosity of our donors and community partners, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County (UWABC) has achieved a transformative upgrade: a full solar array installation at our Community Services building located at 50 S. French Broad Avenue.
WHY IT MATTERS
Social impact organizations like United Way have a role to play in fighting for climate justice. The purpose and central location of our building create a powerful opportunity for our organization to serve as a model for businesses and other nonprofits, encouraging more widespread adoption of clean energy in our community.
The installment of this solar array reduces our building’s energy needs by sixty percent, resulting in
nearly $20,000 in annual savings which will be reinvested in our community partners who serve youth and families across Buncombe County.
Specifically, we thank the following businesses for their support. Their commitment has empowered us to harness the potential of solar energy, paving the way for positive change and sustainable progress throughout Asheville and Buncombe County.
Blue Ridge Power donated all of the solar panels for this project. Without their financial support, guidance, and technical expertise, this project would not have been possible.
Green Built Alliance chose UWABC as one of the first nonprofit organizations to partner with through their Appalachian Offsets program.
Duke Energy provided substantial rebates to help offset the total cost of UWABC’s solar project through their Solar Rebate program.
And a special thank you to the businesses listed below for helping to underwrite the installation costs associated with this project.
