Nothing can really prepare a community for the impact of a natural disaster like Hurricane Helene, especially for a community that has no history of dealing with events like the scale of this one.
There is little we can do to convey to you how much we appreciate your support. But please know, from the $5 checks to those gifts with many zeros at the end, each makes a difference and we are truly humbled.
The truth is, from every corner of this country, we've seen people step up to support the work we are tackling in the wake of Helene. Some sent money, others goods, and others showed up and said, "Put me to work!" This country is filled with good people.
We Have a Long Road Ahead
This is, we hope, a "once in a lifetime" event. We know that officials tell us it will take us at least 8-10 years to recover from what has happened in this region.
United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County has been here for over a hundred years and we want you to know we are here to be a part of that healing, the rebuilding of our beautiful community.
Thank you for your support!
Donations of all shapes and sizes poured in from across this beautiful land.

We try to capture and share the voices of our community in the stories we prepare. Here's a recent video we think you'll like and below that are the two most recent blogs we've published.
